THE DREAMING PLACE

Join acclaimed vibraphonist Chris Dingman, whose work was described by The New York Times as “hypnotizing”, for a transformational sound journey.

Chris plays the vibraphone – a unique and beautiful instrument – in a singular, virtuosic way using the waves and layers of sound along with his voice to bring listeners into a heightened meditative state where healing, connection, visions, and inspiration can occur.

It is a dream-like experience that is at once activating, relaxing, and rejuvenating. Beautiful and calming lighting enhances this sonically rich and expansive journey.

Opening with gentle tones and a guided meditation, the sound journey moves into a transcendent and expansive energy, and culminates in channeled messages that Chris shares with the group. Chris channels loving energy of the highest and best vibration from his loving guides, both in his music and in words.

The setting for this Dreaming Place is the gorgeous and welcoming Magic Room at Center Street.

About the Practitioner

Chris Dingman

Chris Dingman

An acclaimed musician of many genres, Chris Dingman has been performing on the vibraphone for 25+ years, including with masters Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and many others. He brings together this background with a host of studies and influences from around the world, in service of taking listeners on a journey to a transcendent place.

Working in the fields of jazz, experimental, and world music for decades, Chris’s trajectory changed when, in 2018, his father entered hospice. Chris played and recorded meditative music as an act of care for him in his final months of life. This music became the 5-hour extended album Peace.

Since then, Chris has explored a combination of music and spiritual practices that naturally led to deepening the states of trance in which he now channels both wordless music and verbal messages. Along with his long-time practice of Vipassana meditation, he is aided by studies and practices of the mbira music of the Shona people of Zimbabwe, and mediumship and channeling with psychic medium Mary Grisey, as well as other independent studies.

Chris has brought his special brand of channeled music journeys far and wide, from live sessions at Omega Institute, Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Tibet House, to his regular online series Transformations and its special programs for grief and healthcare contexts, his work with the Psychedelic Sangha, music for mediumship practice, presentations for the Gold Foundation, American College of Physicians, Orlando Health, and more.

Chris has been profiled by NPR, the New York Times, AMNY, and many other publications, and has received fellowships and grants from Chamber Music America, New Music USA, South Arts, and the Thelonious Monk Institute.
