SYNERGY OF HEALING

This gathering is an opportunity to learn about the mind-body connection from a licensed clinician who has experience in alternative forms of healing such as energy work and psychedelics. The interactive discussion will highlight the interconnectedness of past and present experiences with the intention of gaining a deeper understanding of our nervous system development and ways to synergize healing for optimal wellness.

You will gain a deeper understanding of the patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and beliefs and how that insight alongside action can empower you to transform what is no longer serving you. We will be co-creating this safe container to learn, share, and ask questions in a judgment free zone.

This discussion will begin with grounding practices or a guided meditation to help us attune to our bodies and collective consciousness. We will explore the psychodynamic development of thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and expand on the concept of developmental trauma. The teaching will integrate the formation of our chakras (energy portals) alongside childhood experiences and nervous system development.

Alexandria will share patterns of nervous system dysregulation and how our bodies unconsciously attempt to regulate in both healthy and unhealthy ways. Using the Internal Family Systems model (also known as IFS or parts work), we’ll examine conflicting intentions and behaviors and learn how to understand, harmonize, and integrate these vital parts. Finally, we’ll discuss ways to strengthen conscious awareness of dysregulation and incorporate somatic techniques, grounding exercises, and energy healing into a coping skills toolbox.

  • Attendees are encouraged to share their insights, “ahas”, and questions throughout in an effort to normalize our experiences, empower our voices, and enhance the healing capacity within community.
  • You are encouraged to bring a spill-proof water bottle and any item that may help you feel grounded (examples: crystals, fidget toy, stuffed animal, etc.)
  • Teachings are a reflection of years of lived experiences, education, and key insights from the following books: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer, Eastern Body Western Mind by Anodea Judith, and No Bad Parts by Richard Schwartz.

About the Practitioner

Alexandria Turnbow

She created Mindful Perceptions in late 2019 amidst working in an agency setting that did not align with her values or beliefs about the mental health field. She wanted the freedom to help others from a wellness perspective and meet them where they are in their healing journey. She has been practicing full-time for over 4 years now and recently hired another counselor. She values helping others learn to regulate their nervous systems in order to cope with their anxious thoughts and external stressors, as well as working through life transitions, relationship challenges, traumas, and identity developments.

It's important to her to not speak from a pedestal and wanted to include some background that isn't seen on a highlight reel or resume. She speaks from varying lived experiences such as growing up in family dynamics of enmeshment, substance abuse, verbal/emotional abuse and hoarding; as well as her own previous co-dependent relationships, attachment wounds, Type A tendencies, anxieties, etc. She does her best to integrate learnings from these past experiences into her healing work with others. She actively participates in her own therapy and energy work practices such as Thai massage, dancing, somatic work, journaling, etc.

On a lighter note she is a lover of cats, domestic and wild. She enjoys a range of music and dancing from country to EDM to Taylor Swift. She has found deep connection and healing from music festivals and conscious communities, as well as play! When it's not 100 degrees, she enjoys swimming, kayaking, and nature walks. : )
