PARTNER MASSAGE

Tap into the symbiotic phase of your relationship with any human in your life. In these times of tension, how about learning to soften into each other. This three hour workshop is for anyone who wants to care for another human’s body through intentional touch, and have that care be reciprocated. Learn to give (and receive) a gentle massage, fully clothed and on the floor – so you can practice it anywhere!

Give the gift of a shared experience.
Give the gift of body care.
Give the gift of wellness.
Give love and compassion.

And then…
Receive the gift of a shared experience,
Receive the gift of tension release
Receive the gift of mobility
Receive the gift of love and compassion

In this workshop, participants will learn to give and receive a simple, effective floor massage routine based on
principles of Japanese bodywork. The routine can be performed on a partner any time, any place to help alleviate stress and
reduce tension. The added benefit is the deepened connection from compassionate and intentional touch. The class will incorporate Asian
modalities and how it connects to the recent discoveries about fascia and its roles as a major sensory organ.

MOST IMPORTANTLY – HAVE FUN, this is not a massage course for professionals. We will not be delving deeply into the why and how using our thinking brain, but we will be practicing trusting your intuition to soothe your partner by touch. We are here to connect, grow, empower, and spend time with someone you love, doing something novel together that can enhance your daily life and relationship.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the basic principles of mindful bodywork and its benefits for longevity with
both giver and receiver.
2. Perform a simple, full-body massage on a partner.
3. Apply specific techniques that address common tension areas in the body.
4. Develop a deeper awareness of their own human body.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a spill proof water bottle.

Jen Martin, Licensed Massage Therapist (MA48155)

Raised in Tokyo, Japan, I was introduced to the healing power of massage by my grandmother, whose teachings have shaped my approach to wellness. After a winding career path that included roles in counseling, science research, and software engineering, I followed my passion and became a licensed massage therapist in 2006. I later expanded my practice with yoga instruction, herbalism and personal training certifications, offering a holistic approach to self-care that nurtures both the body and mind. Today, I specialize in therapeutic bodywork and movement, including self-care practices, with a focus on helping others to not only just feel “better”, but also feel empowered, to be in control of their physical body in wellness. To know that they are already whole. Whether working with individuals or groups, I aim to create a nurturing, inclusive, supportive space for healing and growth. When I’m not sharing my message on finding strength and wellness from within - I’m either traveling to some of the most inconvenient places to see my favorite bands play live music, observing art, or chilling in the garden with my dog.
