Learn More

GRIEF HARMONY

A workshop for those moving through grief after a loss. Join Monica Vidal, grief navigator, and Chris Dingman, vibraphonist and composer, for an inspiring guided opportunity to use the arts for self-care. Participants will engage in activities, guided by Monica, that allow for support and creative expression, and they will build together tools to help them move forward while navigating the stages of grief. During this, Chris will play evocative improvised music on the vibraphone that helps guide the journey taking place. These activities focus on play and imagination, using various types of collage, painting, sculpture, writing, movement, and music. No artistic experience necessary.

All supplies provided.

PRACTITIONERS

Monica Vidal

Growing up with architect parents in the late 60’s in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Monica was exposed at an early age to the creative art world in a very colorful era. After experimenting with different modalities, she found that her true artistic nature lies in the use of charcoal. The colors are in the eye of the viewer, who will interpret it according to their own emotional state, and that in itself appeals to her background. She joined her passion for art and her experience as a Psychologist in Brazil to develop a workshop dedicated to helping individuals express, understand and deal with grief.

Chris Dingman

Known for his distinctive approach to a unique and beautiful instrument. Chris has worked with legendary artists Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, and many of today’s jazz, creative, and world music luminaries. Working in NYC since 2002, Chris’s trajectory was forever changed when, in 2018, he improvised and recorded music as an act of care for his father in his final months of life. This music became the 5-hour extended album Peace. Since then, Chris has brought his special brand of healing music far and wide, from live sessions at Omega Institute and The Rubin Museum of Art, to talks for the Gold Foundation and the American College of Physicians, and much more. Chris leads the online series Transformations for Grief, a healing music and reflective space for navigating grief in community.
