Meditation: The Missing Piece
Here in the West, meditation is often introduced as an exercise or coping skill for stress, anxiety, and so forth. While that’s certainly helpful, a major piece is often missing: observation. When meditation is practiced with a focus on observation, one starts to notice, little by little, the habitual patterns of their mind, and these insights can be truly transformative.

Nicholas Sterling is a registered mental health counseling intern with his own practice, Real Counseling, based in Baldwin Park. He has spent a year and a half traveling through the US, Europe, and India, attending meditation retreats along the way, and has organized meditation groups in both NYC and here in Florida. Nick believes that lasting peace, happiness, and connection are rooted in a serious examination of one’s own heart and soul. Only through that kind of inner work can someone truly learn how to play the hand they’ve been dealt.
