World traveling musicians Samantha Archer (UK) and Jaron Tripp (GER), ‘Archer & Tripp’ conclude their US tour by inviting participants on a 2-part meditative journey through rhythm and melody. Join for a voice activation song circle lead by Samantha, a concert with the duo, or stay for the full evening.
6:30–7:30p • Circle Singing & Voice Activation w/ Samantha Archer
The evening begins with a Circle Singing Workshop, “Let Go” facilitated by Samantha Archer (Singer, Multi-instrumentalist & Community Arts Practitioner).
Join me through a guided, improvisational vocal journey together in rhythm, harmony and a lot of laughter! ~ Bathe in the tones and vibrations of many voices and discover new ways to connect and express, with your own unique voice. ~ Too often, I hear people say, ‘I can’t sing’ or ‘I have a horrible voice’. The truth is, everyone who has vocal chords can sing and every voice is unique; the goal is not to sing ‘beautifully’ but rather to explore, experience, and enjoy playing with the sounds and vibrations of your own voice.
In this expressive ‘circle singing’ experience, we will flow through the sounds, vocal range, dynamics, rhythm and textures of our voices in a playful way through use of the ancient tool, ‘Call and Response’ before entering into a creative circle space of rhythmical and melodic parts as we all weave and harmonize our voices together.
8:00–9:00p • Archer & Tripp Concert
After a brief pause and reset, ‘Archer & Tripp’, invite you to a meditative journey through rhythm and melody. Centered around the Handpan, Samantha and Jaron combine a varied sound palette of instruments such as Woodwind, Vocals, World percussion and more, to create a unique blend that leads you into a nourishing and recharging experience. This evening’s performance is sure to be a sonic treat!

Archer & Tripp are a true love story through the love of handpans. Having met at HangoutUK 2014 they have since traveled the world, sharing their love for and through music. Both multi-instrumentalists bring unique abilities which, in their mixture, guarantee an excitingly unusual, profound musical experience at the pulse of our era.
Together, Archer & Tripp have over 20 years experience of playing handpan.
- Samantha’s classical training during her child and teenage years in piano, clarinet and vocals allowed her distinctive and instinctive sense for melody to flower into a skill for both improvisation and composition.
- Jaron’s development as a musician is driven by the grounding power of rhythm. When starting to play the Hang in early 2006, the freedom of no tradition matched perfectly with his approach to music. Since studying complex rhythmical structures in a meditative way, whilst becoming a Taketina teacher (from 2010 – 2012), Jaron’s deep understanding of rhythm and pulse uniquely blends with Samantha’s enchanting melodic tone.
